Into The Ark Forest School

We, Jenna and Amy Mackintosh set up Into the Ark back in 2012. Previously primary school teachers we decided to step out of the classroom to pursue a more holistic way of educating children within the greatest school of all, nature.
Our Forest School is set in our own beautiful private woodland in Scarisbrick.
Our days follow the rhythms of the children and the environment. We allow the children freedom to explore, play and be themselves, whilst being at one with nature.
We have camps set up within the woodlands where we support children in their play/learning and enable them to be as creative as their imaginations allow.
We offer full day sessions for pre-school aged children (2 and 3/4 to 5) within Camp Beechwood,
Children that have attended the Nursery then have the option of moving up into the Home Ed group this is for children aged 4 to 12 and is based within Camp Elder and Camp Beechwood. We also offer some holiday Club sessions for children who have previously attended.
Due to being oversubscribed we have had to make the difficult decision to close the Home Ed and Holiday club provision for new children.
Both myself (Jenna) and Amy are teachers and after teaching for many years, we became frustrated by schools being increasingly driven by results and targets and there being less emphasis on the child as an individual and their relationship with the world around them. We therefore decided to set up an Outdoor Nursery/Forest School where the ethos was all about being outdoors, enjoying nature, learning through play and being able to respond to the child's needs in a holistic way.
